UNESCO in Brazil launched the Portuguese version of the report ‘The Effects of AI on the Working Lives of Women’, which was originally published in 2022 by a collaboration between UNESCO, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and examines the effects of artificial intelligence in women’s professional work environments and careers. According to the study, women in the labour force are paid less, hold fewer senior positions, and participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields at a lower rate than men. This joint report gives an in-depth introduction to gender and AI issues, intending to spark important conversations about women’s equality in the future of work.
