The event is part of a series of regular briefings that the Geneva Internet Platform (GIP) is delivering for diplomats at permanent missions and delegations in Geneva following digital policy issues. It is an invitation-only event.

The briefing will serve as the third and final session in our AI governance in Geneva series and will also include a discussion on the concept of ‘AI sovereignty‘.

In May, we will conclude our exploration, which began in March and April, by examining a number of organisations that are either headquartered in Geneva or have offices there (such as the WMO, ITU, UNESCO and FAO). The aim is to provide an overview of how these organisations approach AI governance within the framework of their mandates.

We will also discuss what AI sovereignty might mean for individuals, communities, organisations and countries, paying particular attention to its technological dimensions.
