OpenAI is introducing its ChatGPT app to users of Apple’s IOS. The app is already available for IOS customers in the US and will be gradually offered in other countries in the coming weeks. The ChatGPT app is available as a free version that allows synch history across devices. ChatGPT Plus subscribers get additional features and services.
While offering ChatGPT to Apple customers, Apple Inc has restricted the use of ChatGPT and other external artificial intelligence tools for its own employees, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. Apple is developing similar technology and is worried about the leakage of confidential data when employees are using ChatGPT. The ban also includes Microsoft-owned GitHub’s Copilot, which is used to automate the writing of software code. Apple, OpenAI and Microsoft did not respond to Reuter’s request for comment.
