The US Department of Defense (DoD) has launched the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, to support the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAO), a position assumed by DoD Chief Information Officer John Sherman on an acting basis. Reporting to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, the CDAO and his supporting office are tasked with leading and overseeing DoD’s strategy development and policy formulation for data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as creating enabling digital infrastructure and services to support the development and deployment of data, analytics, AI, and digital-enabled solutions. The office is expected to be fully operational in June 2022.
